This trip is one we took in January to Rocky Mouantian National park. We went with my wife's parents, our kids and her brother. We took our snow shoes only to realize that when we got there we did not need them. They did not have nearly as much snow as we had so we didn't get to use the. There are several trails there that are supposed to be great to snow shoe on but this year we missed it. We did enjoy going up and seeing the elk and watching them. If anyone has been to Estes park and the area they know the elk are like the deer in Saratoga, everywhere and almost a nuisance. We have a ranch that sits in the mountains and has a lot of elk but they are not as used to people around as these are so you can get closer and get some great shots while using nothing more that the camera on your phone. There was a winter festival happening and we all enjoyed it. There was a lot of stuff for the kids to play on. Tons of tables set up with everything the area has to offer. We stayed at a motel on the little river that runs through there. We enjoyed the stay and had a lot of fun wondering around trying different places to eat and shopping at the stores. This is one our favorite spots to go that is close. It is a great place to spend a weekend or just take a drive through. We are going to take a trip soon with our paddle boards and see what lakes we can play on.
